Our Crypto OG reviewers note that DAI $DAI remains the leading decentralized stablecoin in crypto, secured through overcollateralized assets rather than direct issuance by a single company. Its deep integration across major DeFi protocols, transparent onchain reserves and seamless coexistence with the newer USDS following the Sky Protocol rebrand reinforce its position as one of the industry’s core financial building blocks. However despite its decentralized design, a meaningful portion of DAI’s collateral is still linked to centralized assets like USDC, creating an indirect regulatory and counterparty risk if those reserves are ever disrupted.

Can DAI continue balancing decentralization with real-world asset adoption or will its growing dependence on centralized collateral eventually challenge the trust that made it the leading decentralized stablecoin?

According to monitoring by Onchain Lens, the Summer Fi attacker has moved most of the stolen funds. The attacker obtained 6.017 million DAI through the Summer Fi attack on July 6, and subsequently continued to exchange and transfer funds via Tornado Cash. Currently the original wallet holds about 11.3 ETH, worth approximately $21,600; the second wallet holds about 282.9 ETH, worth approximately $543,500.
