🇷🇺💸🇹🇭 Russia & Thailand build their own sanctions-proof payment system

Russian and Thai companies are pushing ahead with mutual cashless payment systems for tourists, despite the geopolitical headwinds, Russia's ambassador to Thailand Evgeny Tomikhin told Sputnik.

🔺 The era of tourist bank cards is fading, he added—new technologies now allow contactless and cashless payments without them.

🔺 A Sberbank QR code system is already active in several Thai regions, allowing Russian tourists to make purchases and pay for services.

🔺 And the reverse is also happening: Thai journalists who visited the St. Petersburg Economic Forum reported that a mobile app now allows payments in Russia from Thai bank accounts.
