OGAudit Web3 Research: @RAILGUN_Project $RAIL - Up 199% in a Week, Backed by Vitalik’s Endorsement, Still Delisted From Kraken.

RAILGUN is a set of smart contracts and backend infrastructure that any wallet or DeFi frontend can integrate to let users shield existing tokens (ERC-20s like USDC, USDT and ETH, plus equivalents on BSC and Polygon) into a private balance, then transact, swap or lend using that shielded balance without exposing sender, receiver or amount on a public block explorer:

- Private Proofs of Innocence (PPOI), built as an independent partner project using zero knowledge cryptography, is RAILGUN’s answer to the compliance problem that has gotten other privacy tools sanctioned. When tokens are shielded, a proof is automatically generated showing they aren’t linked to a preset list of illegitimate wallets or transactions without revealing anything else about the user’s balance or activity.
- Ethereum Foundation’s Kohaku privacy wallet framework integrated RAILGUN in October 2025, following a public endorsement from Vitalik Buterin, a significant credibility marker within Ethereum’s own core development community, arriving at a time when the EU has a privacy coin ban planned for 2027 and Kraken has already delisted RAIL, reflecting how unevenly the regulatory landscape is treating this category.
- DeFiLlama has previously ranked RAILGUN as one of the largest onchain privacy protocols by total value locked, second only to Tornado Cash though RAILGUN’s PPOI system is the specific feature its team points to as the meaningful technical and compliance distinction between the two.

Is Ethereum Foundation integration, a direct Vitalik Buterin endorsement and a genuinely novel compliance mechanism in PPOI enough to establish RAILGUN as the privacy protocol regulators can tolerate where others get sanctioned or does a Kraken delisting already in effect, an EU wide ban scheduled for 2027 suggest RAIL remains one adverse headline away from the kind of regulatory action that hit Tornado Cash?
